The manufacturer of shaft displacement transmitter considers that the potentiometer type displacement sensor converts the mechanical displacement into a resistance or voltage output with a linear or arbitrary function relationship through the potentiometer element. Ordinary linear potentiometer and circular potentiometer can be used as linear displacement sensor and angular displacement sensor respectively.


However, the potentiometer designed for the purpose of measuring displacement requires a definite relationship between displacement change and resistance change. The moveable brush of the potentiometer type displacement sensor is connected with the measured object.

Wire-wound potentiometer: Because its brush moving resistance to turn resistance as a step change, its output characteristics are also in step form. If the displacement sensor is used as a displacement feedback element in a servo system, excessive step voltage will cause the system to oscillate. Therefore, the resistance value of each turn should be reduced as far as possible in the production of potentiometer. Another major disadvantage of potentiometer sensors is that they are easy to wear. Its advantages are: simple structure, large output signal, easy to use, low price.


Conductive plastic displacement sensor: DAP (didilute propyl phthalate) resistance paste is covered on the insulation body by special process, heated and polymerized into resistance film, or the solid body formed by DAP resistance powder is thermoplastic pressed in the groove of the insulation matrix as the resistance body. Features: good smoothness, excellent resolution, good wear resistance, long life, low dynamic noise, high reliability, chemical corrosion resistance. Used in space device, missile, aircraft radar antenna servo system, etc.
